Why It Matters
Recently, Time Magazine released a list of the 100 most important people in AI. While the individuals featured on the list are undoubtedly remarkable, many in the AI community felt it failed to accurately represent the true pioneers driving the field forward. This site aims to recognize those who are genuinely advancing AI through groundbreaking work.
We focus on highlighting individuals with deep technical expertise who have made significant contributions through research or engineering. While we acknowledge the importance of safety, ethics, and policy in AI, this list specifically excludes policymakers and philosophers, concentrating instead on the technical trailblazers.
